Speech Therapy

Are you having difficulty understanding your child's speech sounds?

We provide evaluation and treatment of various speech disorders (e.g., articulation, phonological, apraxia, fluency).  In treatment, verbal, visual, and tactile models and cues are used to teach clear speech sound production. The therapist will do this through structured drills and play-based therapy activities.

An Articulation Disorder means a child has difficulty making specific speech sounds accurately due to different placement or movement of lips, tongue, etc. For example, your child may have difficulty producing the /r/ sound.

A Phonological Disorder occurs when a child continues to use patterns of sound errors (phonological processes) that typically developing children use to simplify speech as they are learning to talk or when the processes used are much different than what would be expected. For example, you may hear substitutions such as, "tootie" for "cookie," "nack" for "snack," "fit" for "fish."

A Fluency Disorder is present when speech is interrupted by disfluencies, atypical rate and/or rhythm. Fluency therapy approaches for children are typically focused around learning to talk in an easier manner, and building positive emotions and attitudes towards talking.
